Key issues for us are pollution, greenfield development and wetland/farming. Nondomestic property tax reliefs should be replaced with domestic ones. While litter pollution is a statutory offence and noise pollution a statutory nuisances, agrichemical pollution is neither.
People need a lot of nature for de-pollution. Nature needs a lot of land, including land that is better able to deal with groundwater flooding. Brownfield sites such as Partington gasworks can be redeveloped, but Greenfield wetland Carrington Moss should not be developed, nor farmed in an inappropriate way. Other farmland should be encouraged to be farmed organically.
Money for sustainable land management would be from progressive and equitable taxation, along with increased taxation of dirty energy and unsustainable land uses. We need to prioritise the production of clean energy, organic dryland farming, and the development of brownfield sites before greenfield sites.
