I am delighted to represent The Green Party, here in Flixton, for the 3rd time. I have lived in Flixton for over 19 years and fully appreciate our peaceful community. I have been a Nurse for over 30 years in the local area and have four small grandchildren whose future wellbeing is concerning. It is our time to leave as positive a legacy as we can for them.
As a Nurse, I value the importance of clean air, nutritious food and feeling connected to a community. Here in Flixton, we currently have a good range of local community shops, open green spaces and places to reflect, to relax or chat. We are recognising more and more how important our local area is to us. I value the importance of affordable housing here and am a strong advocate of using brownfield sites over greenbelt land which hosts a range of fellow animals that need our voice and protection.
Looking outwards, we cannot fail to see the impact of climate change, not just in local and national news but here on our doorsteps with poor air quality and increased flooding. Bizarre weather patterns that are no longer once in a lifetime events but are becoming a regular occurrence. Voting Green is a vote for hope in the future, a future for humanity in harmony with our ‘perfect planet’.
