Hale Central - Jane Leicester

I am really excited to be standing as a Green Party candidate for Hale Central, where I have been supporting the residents all year round.

I have worked as a physiotherapist in the NHS for many years and love working with people, especially listening to residents’ issues and working with them to try to solve them.

I am extremely concerned for the future of our planet and look forward to the opportunity to work as part of the council with our other Green Party councillors, addressing climate change whilst working as a local councillor in Hale.

The Green Party is really in a position to make a difference both locally and nationally. Already in Trafford we have made a difference. We were one of the first boroughs in the country to declare a climate emergency and if I am elected I commit to continue holding our council to account and being a ‘green voice’ in the room ensuring that the protection of our environment and green spaces for the next generation is a priority.

Something else that I am very concerned about is the development plan for Hale Village. I want to make sure that residents' voices are heard and support making Hale a safe, pleasant and accessible place to get around.

People locally are telling me how concerned they are about road safety, in particular. I hope to be able to work with residents to develop ‘Active neighbourhoods’, creating streets where children can play out and that are safe, clean places to be. Taking ideas from national initiatives such as Play Streets https://playingout.net/play-streets/what-are-play-streets/ and working for 20mph speed limits and traffic calming measures.
