Trafford Green Party councillors welcome major changes to the recycling of plastic in Greater Manchester.
Residents can now put a wider range of plastics in the black bin. This includes yoghurt pots, fruit trays and tubs.
Concerned residents often get in touch about plastic waste, and Green Party councillors have been pushing the council for action for many years.
Recent changes to local recycling sites mean that more plastics can now be recycled.
Unfortunately most plastics can only be recycled once. The Green Party would like to see laws changed to drastically reduce the amount of plastic created.
Councillor Jane Leicester says:
“We are delighted that Greater Manchester is taking this step to make it easier for residents to recycle more at home.
We know this was important to Hale residents who are doing their bit for the planet, and we welcome this positive change.”
