Green Party councillors have supported local head teachers in their call for a safe crossing on Oakfield Road, Altrincham.  Schools, homes, shops and a leisure centre are close to the busy road and there is a need for a proper crossing point.

 

The Greens are also calling for a Trafford wide ‘Vision Zero’ initiative - reducing to zero the number of serious road injuries by 2040 through improved design of junctions and roads and stricter enforcement of standards.  As Green Party councillor Jane Leicester pointed out Traffic casualty levels have hardly changed for more than a decade.
