Dan gets action on Allen’s waste disposal plant

Councillor Dan Jerrome is pushing for Allen's site to be cleared

Allen’s Waste Disposal on Balmoral Road has lost its operator’s permit.

Dan has supported residents concerned that the plant did not meet standards, for many years. Dan and many residents reported the problems to the Environment Agency which revoked the licence.

However, at the time of going to print, the site hadn’t been properly cleared. Residents have been telling us that the rubbish left on the site is attracting lots of rats.

The Council’s pest control team is due to take action. Any continuing pest problems can be reported to environmental health, with evidence such as photos at environmental.health@trafford.gov.uk.

The site cannot be used for waste disposal again unless a new building is constructed and a new permit obtained. The council’s planning team and the Environment Agency would have to grant approval.

Dan says:

“Reporting problems to the Environment Agency has brought about action. Thank you to all those who took the time to do that. It has taken too long, but perseverance has paid off in the end."

“We will continue to push for the problem to be fully resolved and will give updates when we get them. Do let us know if you have any questions.”
