Cllr Jane Leicester

Hale Ward

Jane was elected as a councillor for Hale ward in 2022.

Jane has worked for many years as an NHS physiotherapist but she recently retired to focus on council work.

She sits on the Health Scrutiny Committee and uses her NHS experience to challenge and support NHS services. She is keen to address the health inequalities that exist across Trafford.

Jane is a walking, cycling and active travel campaigner. As an older woman with two knee replacements she is really keen to show that cycling and active travel can be accessible to all.

For this to happen we need safer roads and better public transport and Jane advocates for this wherever she can.

Cllr Owain Sutton

Hale Ward

Owain was elected to represent Hale in 2023, after years working to get other Green Party councillors elected both in Trafford and beyond.

He works as a teaching assistant in a primary school in Manchester, and sits on Trafford Council’s committee for Children and Young People’s Scrutiny, where he consistently raises issues affecting children with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities).

Owain treats road safety as a major concern, reflecting the views of many residents, along with personal experience. He united the council with a call for a London-style ban on pavement parking, with all parties voting in favour.

He has also led on calls for Andy Burnham to be held accountable by an elected assembly.

He describes his motivation for getting into politics as being because only the Green Party understands the connections between social, economic and environmental justice. He also is driven by the dire need for a wide variety of opposition voices anywhere where a single party dominates, as Trafford has now become.

Your Local Campaigners

Bridget Green

Bowdon Ward

Bridget is the Green Party campaigner for Bowdon and was just 21 votes short of being elected to the council in May 2024.

She has lived in Bowdon for 26 years, raised her family here and been an active member of the local community. She helps run and regularly volunteers for Friends of the Bowdon Bollin.  Access to green space and great local walks are important for Bridget, her family and her dog Dave, as they are for many Bowdon residents.

She also campaigns for safer roads – safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. She would like to see reduced speeds on some roads and believes children should be safe on their whole route to school, not just outside the school gate.

Bridget has been passionate about environmental issues for some time but realised she had to do more to ease young people’s fears about climate change. She is concerned about the pollution of our rivers and threats to our green belt. Seeing the work of the Green Party councillors in Altrincham and Hale, she realised she can make a difference by campaigning locally, and do even more if she is elected to council.
