Bowdon Ward

Kate Gilmartin

I live in Bowdon and I am keen to rise to the challenge as a councillor for Bowdon. Bowdon deserves to have the hard-working Green representation that Hale and Altrincham already enjoy.

I have worked as a renewable energy consultant for many years. I have a passion for tackling climate change. I have recently seen a huge shift in understanding around climate change. Councils need to catch up with their citizens and speed this change along. That’s why I am keen to represent Bowdon as a councillor, so I can join that chorus and push for the institutional change that we need. As part of a Green Party team of councillors in Bowdon, I will bring energy, commitment and dedication to holding Trafford council to account.

Please use your 3 votes this May to elect Gareth, Bridget and myself. Our team are best placed to represent the local area.

Bridget Green

Our hard-working team of Green Party councillors have achieved council-wide successes as well as the many small but important improvements they have won for the residents they represent by regularly listening to them and getting things done. The people of Altrincham and Hale have chosen Greens to represent them. The local group has been shown as a viable alternative electorally. Isn’t it time for Bowdon to turn Green too?

I have lived in Bowdon for 25 years. I have raised my family here and been an active member of our local community. I help run and regularly volunteer for Friends of the Bowdon Bollin. Access to green space and great local walks are very important to me, but I am also passionate about solving environmental issues on a larger scale. Climate change and biodiversity loss are huge global problems but we can all make a difference locally to protect our children’s future.

I really care about Bowdon and would be delighted to represent local residents. Please use your 3 votes for Gareth, Kate and myself. We can be a strong, independent Green voice for the area on Trafford Council.

Gareth Twose

I am very excited to be running again as the Green Party candidate for Bowdon. I was delighted to come a strong second last year. It is clear that this year’s election in Bowdon will be close between Greens and Conservative. This year you will have 3 votes and I will be standing alongside Kate and Bridget.

I am hoping to build on the success and hard work of the Green councillors already elected here in TraffordAs people in Hale and Altrincham know, Green Party councillors work hard all year round, listening to local people and working on the issues that matter to them.

In Bowdon, we are out on the doorstep all year round listening closely to residents’ concerns, whether to do with road safety, school run traffic, bin collections, or plans to build a new motorway service station on the outskirts of Bowdon. We led a petition campaigning for a 20mph speed limit on the South Downs Road, which the council has now agreed to consider next year. On a real and practical level, we are working towards trying to create safer, cleaner and greener local services.

I am a former journalist and teacher, now working in adult social care. I am in the Green Party because the other parties have done so little to address climate change. The really frightening costs are to do with inaction. Only by continuing to elect more Green Party councillors, can we make the change that matters on the ground.

Here in Bowdon, it’s a choice between the hard work of me and my colleagues, or yet another Conservative. Only the Green Party are offering constructive opposition to this Labour-run council.
