Hale Ward

Jane Leicester

I was incredibly proud to be elected as a Green Party councillor for Hale in 2022. Since then, I have been supporting the residents all year round and it has been a real privilege. I worked as a physiotherapist in the NHS for many years and love working with people.

Along with Hannah and Owain as part of the Green Party team, I have especially enjoyed listening to residents’ issues and working together to try to solve them. I consider myself approachable and aim to be available when people have concerns.

Having gained 50% of the vote last time and becoming the first non-Conservative councillor for Hale, I’m standing for re-election to continue to get stuck in on local issues. I hope to work work as part of the council alongside other Green Party councillors, seeking to improve things for people in Hale whilst addressing climate change.

I am extremely concerned for the future of our planet and what we will pass onto our children and future generations. Already in Trafford, our growing team of Green Party councillors have made a difference. We were one of the first boroughs in the country to declare a climate emergency. If re-elected I’ll continue to hold our council to account.

I would be a constant ‘green voice’ ensuring the protection of our environment. This May please use your 3 votes to enable myself alongside Hannah and Owain to build a greener future for Hale.

Hannah Spencer

I’m honoured to have been selected as a candidate in Hale, alongside Owain and our existing Green councillor Jane Leicester.

I became a bit disengaged with politics generally in starting to feel like nobody was listening to the warnings we’ve been given surrounding the climate emergency. I wanted to see people standing up to make a difference for local people.

Becoming involved with Trafford Green Party has flipped my thinking on its head. Altrincham has had Green representation since 2018 and what they’ve been able to achieve is hugely impressive. I’ve worked closely with Jane since she was elected and I can see the huge impact she’s having on behalf of residents in Hale. The council are now having to take seriously the concerns of residents and it’s down to the dedication of its Green Party councillors.

I’m a plumber and GasSafe heating engineer. In the last couple of years I’ve made tough decisions in my career to start to transition to more renewable sources, working on solar installations and Air Source Heat Pump systems. I think we all deserve the chance to lead greener lifestyles.

Hale residents deserve to be part of a green-led approach with a huge range of benefits. Addressing our climate emergency is one, but also the impacts on our physical and mental health would be enormous. Safer walking and cycling routes, well maintained and accessible green spaces, less pollution- it will undoubtedly lead to a better life for us all.

I want Hale to become somewhere where we can thrive, where we can breathe clean air, where our older population can get around safely and access the services they need, where kids can safely ride their bikes to school, I want women and girls to feel safe not just some of the time, but all the time, where people feel that where they live is the best it can be. More Green Party councillors will keep holding the Labour-led to account and build on the successes already achieved.

Owain Sutton

I’ve been involved with the core of the Green Party team in Trafford for almost a decade, helping get our first councillors elected in 2018 and the subsequent gains. I’m now standing to join Jane, to replace another Tory in Hale. We’ve already proven how the Conservatives are no longer providing something appealing to voters, and that we are the credible alternative option.

I work as a teaching assistant, supporting primary school children with disabilities and additional needs. This generation of children have already faced huge challenges, and the inequalities in society have had a massive impact on the most vulnerable and least fortunate.

For me, the heart of the Green Party is the interconnection between social, economic and environmental fairness. This should be reflected in all decisions and actions by our elected representatives. Every issue on the ground, no matter how small, is one piece of that jigsaw. I hope to become a part of that bigger picture.
